Fund manager Moritz Rehmann (centre), flanked by Andrea Huber, Head of Wholesale and Retail Sales, and DJE board member Thorsten Schrieber with the Scope Award 2025.
At the Scope Awards 2025, DJE - Multi Asset & Trends was recognized as the best fund in the "Mixed Fund Global Flexible" category in Germany and Austria. The independent analyst firm presents the Scope Awards every year together with Handelsblatt.
DJE - Multi Asset & Trends is an offensively oriented multi-asset fund. It invests primarily in equities, but also in bonds and precious metals, independently of index targets. It also uses its cash allocation very flexibly in order to cushion difficult market phases as much as possible. Major topics of the day determine the portfolio, such as artificial intelligence and demographics & health. In other words, DJE - Multi Asset & Trends invests in trends that are moving the world today and tomorrow.
Structural and long-term trends
Investors can benefit from these long-term trends with thematic funds. Moritz Rehmann, manager of the multi-asset fund DJE - Multi Asset & Trends, manages a fund that flexibly combines many of these megatrends. Rehmann pursues an offensive strategy and is not guided by fixed benchmarks. Securities are selected systematically. The foundation is formed by the in-house bottom-up research with a six-part scoring model - the focus is on, among other things: Management qualities, balance sheets, valuations, market positioning, sustainability criteria and momentum - i.e. whether it is the right time to invest in a company.
Each company in which DJE - Multi Asset & Trends invests can be assigned to a large thematic block; these blocks are considered to be structural and long-term. Client orientation is central to this: investors should always know exactly which trends their capital is currently invested in. These currently include: artificial intelligence, eCommerce, demographics & health, digital life & innovation, brands & luxury, infrastructure & production, green technologies and "tactical themes". Tactical means: tailored to the current market environment. In view of the changed interest rate environment, this recently included value stocks from banks, insurance companies and financial service providers, for example.
Innovation drivers, but with substance
When it comes to future topics, many investors often think of start-ups. However, the potential profits of these young companies usually lie far in the future and valuations are often disproportionately high. This is why these companies only play a subordinate role in the investment strategy of DJE - Multi Asset & Trends. The fund management looks first and foremost for companies with strong substance that drive their innovations with their own cash flow - and also survive difficult market phases. Moritz Rehmann says: "Our focus is on profitable companies and we only include those in the portfolio that have a functioning business model. We pay attention to a stable free cash flow and typically do not invest in loss-making companies."
Keyword: difficult phases. In order to hedge against potential crises, the fund relies on broad diversification in line with the multi-asset principle. Equities currently make up just under 69% of the fund portfolio. 75% would be the "neutral" quota. This underweighting is mainly due to the fact that fund manager Moritz Rehmann considers the risk/reward ratio of bonds (23%) to be very attractive and precious metals (7%), especially gold, not only help to stabilize the portfolio but are currently in high demand. Or, to quote Moritz Rehmann: "Multi-asset strategies are particularly exciting in this market phase, as they deliver positive returns in all three areas - equities, bonds and precious metals."
With this approach, DJE - Multi Asset & Trends was able to impress at the Scope Awards 2025. The assessment criteria include the fund management, the design and implementation of the investment process and the current Scope fund rating, which is used to continuously monitor the risk/return ratio. Current Scope rating of DJE - Multi Asset & Trends ist top grade A.
